New fleece’s from Topo Designs just hit their shop page and soon to be showing up at their stockists as well. I like how Topo takes a piece of tried and true gear (in this case the Synchilla Snap-T) and gives it their own spin and update- reinforced elbows, zipper pocket, a slim fit, and some awesome colors. American made, scoop one up here while they still last.

Strawfoot Caps & Socks

Strawfoot Handmade just put out some neat custom Ebbet caps and Defeet socks in a couple colors each, both American made goods. Check them out on his shop page amongst his handmade bags.
Owner Operator
Owner Operator is a great little brand founded by two fella’s by the name of Steven and Peter run the whole show from New York where it’s all made. This season marks their third collection that’s full of some pretty classically styled outerwear and cold weather accessories that the two snowboarders have designed. Even their logo screams a certain old-school cool that you just can’t find in new gear. The insulated flannels are definitely my favorite pieces, but I’m also a sucker for knitted bobble caps.
Fourth
Happy Fourth to all my American readers residing stateside and abroad. Maybe you’ve noticed a lack of posts recently and the answer is simply: summer. I’ve got some stuff up my sleeves including a summer mix that is pretty close to being done so hang tight and go outside in the meantime.
Authentic
Surely they aren’t making them like they used to. Photos found from an image hoarder/ebay scourer, more here.
Memo Archive
An impressive project by Field Notes archiving a collection of memo books from the Field Notes co-founder Aaron Draplin. Right now the archive has over 300 memo books scanned and grided out for your viewing pleasure. I’ve picked up a couple from flea markets but never thought of really seeking them out, that may have to change. Definitely check out this video with Draplin going over his collection and talking about what draws him to them.

Three Caps
The onset of spring means I get to wear hats that don’t have to cover my ears and I am excited to start wearing these caps regularly. The first is a collaboration between Tracko and Yanco made from a medium weight Pendleton wool so it’ll be a good transitional cap. The ball cap is made by FairEnds for Hickoree’s and the tweed camp cap also made by FairEnds– a collaboration with James from Secret Forts. Unfortunately both the Pendleton cycling cap and Tweed camp cap were limited runs but the ball caps (in more great colorways!) are for sale at Hickoree’s.

Footlocker
Matt, author of The William Brown Project, made quite a find in New Hampshire with this WWII USN footlocker filled with personal gear. Extra buttons, personal stencils, chewing gum, correspondence, and of course the clothes- caps, shirts, and a thick turtleneck sweater. Matt is currently looking for a buyer; I myself am not a dedicated enough militaria collector and prefer to get lucky here and there. Check out more details of the contents here.
