The bullmoose is a classic mountain bike handlebar, but I suppose you can’t just label it as just a handlebar since the stem is integrated into the bar. I’ve only ever owned one bike that would have fit the bill for the previously quill-only bar, it was a Bridgestone CB-Zip and I ended up fitting it with a Nitto Technomic stem and set of mustache bars.. which I ended up selling last winter.
Moving on: the bright people at Fairweather got together with Nitto to bring the bullmoose to the threadless 1-1/8″ standard of today. I’ve been considering getting a set of these burly bars for my Surly porteur; the 710mm of width would provide ample control of the heaviest loads along with a little more maneuverability than my porteur bars allow for. Get them domestically from Archive Bag (along with some great bags) or from Fairweather directly where they’re also offered in a black ano.
