Around Us & Between Us
2×2 and Handlebars by Geoff Mcfetridge from his exhibition Around Us & Between Us on view at Ivory and Black in London. Hear what Geoff has to say about his work in this nicely produced video about the show.
The Way I Roll
Photographer and videographer Peter Sutherland followed six cyclists from different disciplines of cycling and personal backgrounds to produce short but moving documentaries on each one. Each subject has their own relationship with cycling and it’s inspiring to see how they’ve worked it into their lives as well as how it’s shaped some of their lives entirely. Can’t recommend watching these enough, check them here.

Brazen Bicycles
My buddy Dave out in Oakland builds bikes for folks out in the bay area. The style of most of his builds are generally all-rounders and tourers but each one is specifically built up to the customers input and needs in a bike. Check out the rest here.
Rapha Gentlemens’ Race
Photographs by Chris Milliman from the New England Rapha Gentlemens’ Race- a rugged 105 mile ride with plenty of dirt and gravel. Read/watch/look here.

Gage+Desoto
Gage+Desoto, purveyors of printed goods as well as cycling and non-cycling related odds and ends, updated their web shop with a fresh layout and some sobering product shots. Love the icy MIKO-style type treatment given to their Summer bidons (water bottles). Drop by their Redhook brick and mortar which is open Friday and Saturdays from 12 pm to 7 pm.
Barber Stripe
I first noticed barber pole style stripes painted on the seat tubes of Mercian‘s (not to be confused with the once-French Cycles Mercier) but have come across the same playful treatment applied to Bob Jackson‘s upon looking for a new touring frame that actually fits me- unlike my current frame. With both Mercian and Bob Jackson being long established English builders, 1946 and 1935 respectively, I imagine the style originates from England. I’d be interested to hear if any readers might have any insight into the provenance of the whimsical paint job.

Lemon Hill
I spent most of last Sunday watching the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship from the grassy slope of Lemon Hill. Many flock to The Wall but something about Lemon Hill attracts more fans that are themselves cyclists and not just there to drink outside. The climb itself is short and fast averaging a modest grade when compared to the Manayunk Wall. Getting a good vantage point is very simple thanks to the curvature of the road. The pack powers through in a storm but there’s still the opportunity run up with the stragglers.
