Beloved Cycles

Fine bikes from Oregon-based Beloved Cycles in both ink and steel form; pictured above are the There and Back and No Haste frames. Beloved also offers some pretty handsome co-branded complete builds with Rapha, Mellow Johnny’s, and Jack Spade which is my personal favorite- you can never go wrong with a cream porteur.

Fishing by Bike

This old Sologne creel bag really peaked my interest when I saw it over at Vintage Bicycle and got me to thinking about how I could get some fishing done by bike this summer, even if only catch and release. I’d be curious if any readers have experience fishing on their bike and what kind of gear might be more preferable over others. Tenkara perhaps? Check out more photos of the creel bag (and bike) here.

Gage+Desoto Summer ’84 Jersey

A jersey so fine that even my favorite cycling curmudgeon Timothy from Landlords has given it a thumbs up. The 80’s throwback style jersey is only available by pre-order from Brooklyn’s Gage+Desoto until April 21st so get on it. For maximum rad aesthetic it is recommended that you also sport a Team Z cap as shown above (an all time favorite kit) and go the extra mile with an old pair of Sidi Genius 2’s!

#myulock

Jon of Two Tone ATL started a neat/dorky Instagram trend this week that seems to be going strong. It’s interesting to see the variety of personalization people take to their locks. I noticed a good handful that wrap the “U” with bartape to protect their frames which is a brilliant idea. If you’re on Instagram snap a pic of yours and include the #myulock tag for all to see.

Chris Wright Cycles

I stopped by my friend and neighbor Chris Wright‘s frame building studio on one of those abnormally warm January days we had here in Philly. Unfortunately he was between builds so mostly what I shot were just some details, I’ll be sure to visit again when he’s working on something good but enjoy these for now.

Rapha SS12

Lookbook photographs from Rapha’s Spring/Summer 2012 lines (Training & Racing, Women, and Pro Team) shot by Ben Ingham in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of Spain. I thought it odd that they didn’t do a lookbook for their city riding line as they had last season. It seems like they keep offering more and more casual pieces for casual riding every season so why not highlight those pieces as well? . See the lookbook in its entirety here.

Walton Brush

I stumbled onto the photo blog of MASH SF rider Walton Brush recently- there’s not a ton to elaborate on but if you like what you see you should check out his regularly updated blog here.

Field Test: PDW Lighting

When the lack of winter daylight sets in a set of reliable lights are super important to me- I implore you to not be one of many “bike ninjas” riding city streets without any sort of lighting as it can be dangerous for you and others around you. Dan at Portland Design Works was kind enough to let me try out some of their lights recently which I’ve been using since early December. Up front I have the Cosmic Dreadnought 110 (110 lumens of light output) and in the rear their bolt-on Fenderbot.
