According to the current forecast the weekend should bring some weather worthy of a pair of shorts. Some guys pretend like they’re too cool and wear pants all year while some people just look really funny in a pair of shorts. I’m pretty excited to be able to wear shorts and feel the wind on my legs while biking on a spring day, here’s a few things that will help me accomplish just that.
Signature
So, I’m pretty underwhelmed by most of what the long awaited Signature line from Bean has to offer.. well that’s as far as garments go, their clothes never seem to fit me anyways unless it comes in an extra-small. As for the shoes and accessories- I’m pretty excited.

the fridolin
I’ve been in love with these cars the first time I ever set eyes on one at a quirky Volkswagen show. The German Postal Services commissioned Volkswagen to build them a truck for their mail delivery in the early sixties. Today very little of the original trucks exist in a drivable state. The Type 147 Kleinlieferwagen, better known as the Fridolin, predates the ultra boxy cars of today’s Scion and Honda models.
extra extra bookshop

Quoddy for… Urban Outfitters?
Wow so, I’m not even totally sure how I feel about this. I am all for supporting Quoddy because they’re handmade American products that are also quality and handsome as hell. I guess my biggest question is why would you buy them from UO when you can buy them directly from Quoddy or support a great retailer like South Willard for the same price? I am also all for the growth of a great company (so long as they don’t start outsourcing labor) but am also somewhat questionable of the quality since they must be pumping out so much product to stock each of the many UO stores.

I know it’s been slow around here lately but I do appreciate the amount of new readers I’ve been getting. For now, here are some things that make me happy.

Handmade

(ph cred)
If you were a really lucky boy or girl you were able to make it to Richmond, VA to see this year’s North American Handmade Bike Show, but if you are like me you just have to rely on pictures. This year local Philadelphia builder Bilenky Cycle Works won the award for best road frame with this tandem, much respect. Also worth mentioning is Richard Sach‘s bright red & thin steel tube bike that won best track.
