The Collective Quarterly is a new travel and lifestyle publication with a side of menswear, food, you name it. The premier issue takes their three-man team to Marfa, Texas to explore and report their findings in 200 pages of writing, photographs, and illustrations. Following in the steps of publications like Monocle and Inventory they’ve partnered with their favorite brands to create unique and exclusive pieces. Currently being offered in their store is a series of collaborative products between Faribault Woolen Mills, Duluth Pack, and Fischer Clothing to create a blanket, backpack, and vest. Keep an eye out for the launch of the first issue in March or get a step a head and preorder a copy.

Strawfoot Roll-Top Tote

rolltoptote-2

This past Summer Garett of Strawfoot Handmade made me one of his roll-top tote’s which at the time he had just started producing regularly. I was looking for a bag to throw in my Gamoh porteur rack and this seemed like the perfect bag for the job due to it’s size, durability, and water-proof properties inherited from the waxed canvas. Since the bag is mostly carried by bike the vegetable tanned leather is taking a little while to darken but it’ll come in due time. Continue reading

Holiday Gift Guide

nicegiftsWith Thanksgiving and a weekend of holiday promo’s behind us the time for Christmas commerce is here. If you happen to know a guy or gal with similar interests as mine (I’d describe them as outdoorsy with an emphasis on cycling) then surely any one of these gifts would be perfect for him or her. Sure, I could have listed a bunch of expensive stuff I want to be gifted but all the products vary in pricing depending on your budget. And if you still need more ideas just give a  look at the 2011 and 2012 gift guides I’ve done. Continue reading

Alternate Route

alternate-route-tv-show

Matt Hranek is a photographer and author of one of my favorite places on the internet, The William Brown Project. Tomorrow night on Esquire TV unveils Hranek’s series Alternate Route where he traverses the states taking the audience to all the best places: breweries, distilleries, restaurants, shops, and everything else in between. Think of it as No Reservations with a focus on America and what I’m expecting to be more fun in general.. Matt’s got an affinity for side-by-side’s and air-cooled porches after all. Tune in tomorrow night at 10:30 and check out some clips in the meantime.

Rapha City Riding 2013

Jake Stangel shoots the Rapha City Riding collection throughout Antwerp and Berlin. This year’s collection brings some new pieces (merino gilet) as well as past favorites with updated features and of course new colors. The ‘old gold’ color pops up in quite a few pieces like the long sleeve city jersey & winter city socks. One thing that did stick out to me was the unnamed brown jacket which I’m quite sure is a yet to be released color of the already offered city rain jacket. I personally own their classic softshell jacket and it’s easily my favorite piece of kit, I certainly wouldn’t mind adding a more casual piece of Rapha outerwear to closet. View the rest of the lookbook here and some words with Stangel on the Rapha blog.
